Bluefields Bay Villas is the perfect “country retreat on the sea” with every luxury of a large resort but the privacy of your own secluded villa on the south coast of Jamaica. Each of the six waterfront villas has a private pool, gourmet chef and personal butler.

The service was impeccable with a butler available 24-hours and even available for daily excursions. When we went to the YS Falls someone accompanied us to carry a custom picnic basket filled with fresh local snacks. The beachfront property extends along the south coast with beautifully landscaped vistas and the perfect view of sunset.

I stayed at Bluefields Bay courtesy of Jamaica Tourism for two days but as always all opinions are my own.

Getting There: Bluefields Bay is about a one-hour car ride from Montego Bay Airport (MBJ). They provide one-of-a-kind service and even a private helicopter transfer option for an additional cost. Call for more details: 1-877-955-8993.

Location: This south coast beachfront property has the best sunset views far enough from the hustle of the Montego Bay, surrounded by the chirping sounds of nature.

Check in: Upon check in we were greeted by a team of friendly faces who immediately knew our names and welcomed us with refreshing drinks made with local rum. We were even greeted by wagging tails of the adorable two dogs and cat on property. This villa immediately feels like a home away from home with the best service.

The Room: The “old world charm” interiors provide the ultimate comforts. I stayed in the master bedroom in Mullion Cove which has 5+ Bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The master bedroom had a couch and plenty of closet space.

Bathroom: The bathroom was my favorite part of the master bedroom including a double sink, double shower and an outdoor bathtub nestled in the banana leaves.

WiFi: The WiFi worked well inside and outside the villa.

Water: A pitcher of water was provided in the room as well as a variety of drink options in the kitchen.

Coffee/Tea: Coffee and tea was provided by our personal chef by request or on the table in the morning.

Power Plugs: There were a good number of plugs including plugs conveniently near the bed.

Pool: Each villa has a private pool. Our pool had a beautiful view over the water and a line of lounge chairs for relaxing.

Beach: The property includes both a rocky beach and a white sand beach with water activity gear for kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and snorkeling. Ask about the sunset cruise for the perfect afternoon with a full bar and personal butler service. I’ve never seen such attention to detail and beautiful dishes served on silver on a moving boat. The jerk chicken snacks and fresh plantain chips and dip were delicious and the presentation went above and beyond my expectations!

Dining: The gourmet chef and staff attended to our every request, preparing some of the best meals we had on the island! They were always accommodating for allergies and dining preferences, ready with alternate menu options. The pumpkin soup and the filet mignon with jerk gravy were my favorite dishes during my trip.

Mosquitoes: Small bottles of mosquito repellant were provided in the bathrooms along with mosquito mesh around the beds in some of the bedrooms.

Fitness: There were several water sport activities as well as tennis and hiking available.

The Verdict: I would stay here again and highly recommend Bluefields Bay Villas especially for larger groups or families looking for a private secluded retreat. It has all the luxuries of a large resort with the feeling of staying in a local home with personalized service that always went above and beyond.

  1. Great review – can’t wait to go visit this place. I know Jamaica very well but have not spent much time on the South Coast of the island! What does it cost?

  2. Great summary review Jennifer, and I really enjoyed the photos. There are so many wonderful villas in Jamaica, so the competition encourages great service from those of us who provide all-inclusive villa rentals.
